Hey y'all…I'm baaaack. There was no rain in California, rather I'm just feeling #realfeels after a week full of bliss and unreal landscapes. My little brother's wedding was beautiful beyond imagination as it took place on a gorgeous (but cold) beach shore in Big Sur. Three words into their vows and we are in tears. Well, for me it was more like a mixture of tears and boogers (those two go hand in hand, right?). Congratulations to my Irish twin and my new sister - love you both, so so much.
After the wedding, we headed back to LA where my parents visited every little Asian town they could find (Little Cambodia, China town, Korea town, etcetera). Meanwhile, I had my own adventures: getting lost in the Last Bookstore and diving into the Book of Correspondence (where I read letters from Mary Stuart six hours before her execution and love letters from Virginia Woolf), lunching at Bottega Louie and spying the most stylish dude in a suit & tie & adidas, having drinks with a girlfriend at Bungalow (and being constantly interrupted by drunken British boys), seeing LA by night via Griffith Observatory, feasting on Hot N Juicy crawfish + shrimp as a midnight snack, feeling right at home in Silver Lake (hipsterville) and comparing old fashioneds from one speakeasy to the next. Until we meet again, I'll just be California dreamin'. & if you don't already, follow me on my instagram where you can see all the photos from my trip.
"The fact remains that getting people right is not what living is all about anyway. It's getting them wrong that is living, getting them wrong and wrong and wrong and then, on careful reconsideration, getting them wrong again. That's how we know we are alive: we're wrong." -Phillip Roth
So here's to never quite getting it right (SOML).
